I’ve been stuck as to how to design this professional website. I’ve been racking my brain for months because, like Bryan Veloso, I have an easier time coming up with creative designs for other peoples’ sites but not for my own. I guess a challenge that I have is asking myself the same questions that I would ask a prospective client in order to get to the meat of the problem. Today, however, I have chosen to install a blank slate template and work from that. This is an open source blueprint theme called “Starkers” and every so often, I’ll be making changes to the website to see how those changes look. I’ll also keep writing about them in both English and French so that I can keep my website bilingual.
The reason for this website is that I am looking to take my career in a new, creative direction and I want to attract a job at an amazing, dynamic web development company. Knowing that I’m also going to be working on things like an interactive CV, testimonials, a portfolio and other parts of the site to show off to employers. Ideally, I would like to have this online by the end of the month, so I’m going to be plowing through this project. I’m also going to be working on other sections of the website after the launch but my main goal right now is to get these few basic parts of the website complete.
